Thomas Hoy was born in 1958 in Melbourne, Australia. He gained his Ph.D. in Literature in 1998 with his thesis, "Fiction, Science and The Cultural Moment: Paradigms in Science and Fiction" and he works as a teacher at La Trobe University. He has published several articles in newspapers and literary journals. He also works in the fields of literary translation, and in music, being a poet, saxofonist and composer of "inner urban folk" music. He has translated several works by the Chilean-Australian author Luis Aguila. He has put out records, among them "The Mudmen". At present he is preparing a CD with his group "The Kleptones" to be named "Twelve Easy Songs" and is developing his fictional work "The Secret Language of The Tower of Babel".
